Worship this Sunday at 9:30 AM: In the United Methodist tradition, Baptism is one of two official sacraments celebrated in our church (Holy Communion is the other.) We understand these sacraments as “means of Grace,” among the ways Grace is imparted into our lives. That doesn’t mean that grace is imparted exclusively that way, but that it is an outward and visible signifier of the Grace at work in our lives.

But it’s also something more – something akin to an initiation ceremony or a
rite of passage in which we pledge ourselves as members of a community of
faith, and the community pledges care of the new members. This Sunday we will reaffirm our baptism, remembering our pledges to God, to ourselves, and to our community. If you’re worshiping at home, please have a small glass or bowl of water ready to reaffirm your own baptism along with us. And let’s discuss the benefits and responsibilities of living into community!
