Worship this Sunday, Sept 8 at 9:30 AM: How do you understand the relationship between faith and works? Is faith without works, as James asserts, dead? What about works without faith? Hollow and empty? But what is your experience? Some find deep reassurance that works won’t earn you God’s love. Others find that starting the work despite having little faith can actually grow their faith. Let’s get into this faith/works discussion. We don’t want to be so wrapped up in the idea that the success or failure of our works define who we are; but we also don’t want to be, as one theologian put it, “so heavenly minded that we’re no earthly good.” We’ll see how Wesley threads the needle and try to come to some conclusions ourselves.
