Building Usage
Use of Facilities
Use of Church facilities is governed by the Trustees, who may delegate administration to specified groups or individuals such as the Wedding Coordinators and the Concert/Music Committee. All outside groups must either be registered non-profit agencies, or individuals using the church for a personal/private event that does not make a profit/income. All outside groups must have an authorized responsible person sign a contract to reserve space and to show their agreement to abide by church rules. Rules are necessary to meet insurance, tax code and fire departments use regulations as well as maintaining the primary function of our building as a place of worship. When signing a contract, the user accepts responsibility for his/her groups’ following of the stated rules and for making restitution to the church for any damage which may result from the groups’ use of the premises.

WEDDINGS
Green Lake United Methodist Church is located just east of Green Lake. We have a lovely, open Sanctuary with beautiful antique stained glass windows. The historic building resembles a stone castle on the outside and has been the site for many generations of weddings in this area. Weddings at Green Lake United Methodist Church are considered to be a ministry of the church, rather than a function of the building. Therefore we welcome church members and/or couples willing to be married by the current church pastor, and those able to participate in three to five marital counseling classes to schedule a wedding here. There is a limit of two wedding services in any one month, with the pastor’s approval required of three months prior to the ceremony. After meeting with the pastor the couple may choose to secure their date with a $450 deposit (to be applied toward Sanctuary use fee) . At this time, a wedding hostess will be contacted. She will coordinate, with the couple the details related to the building, the music, the sound system, flowers and photography. In the United Methodist tradition, smoking or alcohol consumption (or possession of alcoholic beverages) are not allowed on the church grounds. Since the marriage ceremony is considered to be a sacred covenant, and a binding legal contract, anything which impairs the judgment of the bride, groom or the two witnesses signing the marriage license will prevent the wedding from happening as scheduled.
